Checking us out

gathering

It's a big deal visiting a new church for the first time...It's easy to feel out of place. Do I belong here? Am I really welcome? Will the people be too friendly or not friendly enough? Will I stand out? Will they ask me for money? Will my kids enjoy it? How should I dress? Can I come even if I'm not sure what I believe?

At The Quest, we want to make your visit a good one - easy, straightforward, uncomplicated. We are intentionally "user-friendly" for people, no matter what their background - you don't have to have church 'figured out' to walk through our door. In fact, many of our people were not regular church attenders before finding The Quest, so you're in good company! Here is a brief overview of what you can expect at your first visit.

We meet at Clovis High School, and we use the parking lot on the corner of Barstow an Fowler. There is plenty of parking for both the 9:00 am and 10:30 am gatherings.

As you approach the courtyard area you will see signs that give directions for Baby Quest and Kiddy Quest, as well as Kid’s Quest and Club 56. If you have kids, these are great forums, with caring people to make your experience as well as your kid’s encounter a great one.

As you walk in the lobby area you will notice a bevarage area available for you. This is our way of saying Thank you for being with us. Grab what you like and you can bring it with you into the gathering.

As you walk through the doors into the area where we meet. You will notice a couple of things:

1. You will be given a program. This is information about us and some of the activities we have going on.
2. You will also be given a “connection card”. We respect your privacy so there is no pressure here. We would like to get to know you better, and this card facilitates us in that area. But again, No pressure.

There is a variety of seating options. Choose what suits you best. We offer traditional seating in rows or we have round tables and chairs on the sides. I like the tables, but that’s just me.

We do not have an offering segment during the gathering, like most churches, however we do provide wooden boxes at the door for people to give financially if they would like.

You will meet many friendly people, this may freak you out a little, We just want you to know that we enjoy having you with us.

The gathering lasts for about one hour. There is a half hour break in between the gatherings. During this time many hang out and catch up on each others lives, and just enjoy being together.

If during the gathering you run out of coffee, feel free to fill it up again.

After the gathering, if you have kids, you'll pick them up from their classrooms, and then we hope you'll stay around, meet some people and enjoy coffee and refreshments. Church exists not solely to encounter God, but also to experience community and friendship, and we trust you will find genuine warmth and openness at The Quest.

That's about it. We hope you'll stop by this Sunday. And if you do, please be sure to introduce yourself. We look forward to meeting you!
